MA in Applied Anthropology

Applied anthropology uses anthropological methods, knowledge and theory to solve real world problems. The field has a strong emphasis on cross-curiculur learning, with statistics and project design a major focus. The program was also my first experience with coding, as I learned to use Statistical Analysis Systems. Subjects studied include:

• Research design and methodology
• Qualitative and quantitative data analysis
• Fieldwork techniques and participant observation
• Cross-cultural communication and understanding
• Ethical considerations in research
• Data visualization and presentation skills
• Statistical analysis using software like SAS and SPSS

Pursuing this degree developed my desire to use those skills to make material improvements in the world and in people's lives. The knowledge and skills I acquired have allowed me to be a more productive and happier member of the international community. I also learned that I wanted to work in education and technology, since these allow me to apply my skills in a way that made a difference in the lives of students and teachers.
