Postgraduate Certificate of Education

Education theory, practice and research were the focus of my PGCE at the University of Sunderland. This program provided me with a solid foundation in educational theory and practice, which I applied in my teaching career. Subjects covered included:

• Educational psychology and child development
• Curriculum design and assessment
• Classroom management strategies
• Inclusive education practices
• Action research in education
• Reflective practice and professional development
• Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) methodologies
• Quantitative and Qualitative Methods

The program also included and Action Research Project interviewing students and faculty about English language classes to prepare students for Oxbridge interviews and applications as well as support students struggling with English. We identified gaps in students English language learning and figured out ways to better support struggling ESL students. The Action research lead to significant changes in the school curiculum. It also strengthed my commitment to working across departmetns.
